Titel:  Commercial Business Analyst Retail.

With the creation of a Business Intelligence center, Alken Maes aims at gathering all the business analytics and reporting roles to build a cutting-edge structure to accelerate insights creation, collection and delivery to the operational Business teams (Marketing & Offtrade).

It enables organic development and accelerate capability growth by elevating analytical & data-driven skills and mindset throughout the OpCo. By combining all fragmented business intelligence capabilities, it leverages cross-functional collaboration and learning by ensuring intelligence profiles are embedded together to increase their development.




As a commercial business analyst retail, you will analyse information from various data sources (Salesforce, Nielsen, Business Objects, …) and convert it into business insights. You translate data and figures into insights, and these insights relate to the market, our brands and retail shopper behaviours.

As a business analyst you are also a reporting analyst. Your role includes presenting large amounts of information in ways that are universally understandable or easy to interpret and spot patterns, trends and correlations as a reporting analyst, you will ensure that several stakeholders have access to necessary, reliable, insightful and actionable data to perform their activity.

Finally, you will play a critical role in pushing for more automated dashboards, being the contact person from the team who liaises business needs with D&T team. You will aim at switching from manual & repetitive reportings & dashboards to automated ones, freeing up time to analyse what’s behind the numbers!




  • Ensure a comprehensive reporting for Marketing and Offtrade;
  • Source the needs from your different stakeholders, from Sales director to Field sales manager
  • Build and maintain the right reporting tools, crossing several data sources and including KPIs, to allow your stakeholders to effectively manage their day-to-day activity
  • Complete and deliver reporting’s in due time and with reliable data
  • Answer ad’hoc requests from your counterparts (off trade sales, channel marketing, revenue manager, brand manager,..)
  • Create conditions allowing massive and seamless reports sharing (comm, tools…)
  • Challenge data vendors to get the most out of them and validate they're still the best fit with our needs


  • Constantly challenge the ‘Alken Maes way of working’;
  • Review all the reporting files and challenge their usefulness/actionability
  • Push for more automation: work closely with D&T to build automation plans and roadmaps, allowing more time for analysis than data manipulation
  • Develop data visualization, making large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable, usable and delivering the data in a useful and appealing way to consumers


  • Advice, challenge and convince Brand Managers, Key Accounts, Channel Marketing acquisition & Sales Representatives to use data as an enabler to increase their sales or ROI;
  • Contribute to transform Alken Maes and become a more data-driven company


  • Generate a follow-up KPI reporting for our Sales Accounts;   




  • You have a Bachelor/Master in commercial engineering, applied sciences or equivalent through experience;
  • You have at least 3 years professional experience as business analyst, commerce controller, …;
  • You have already some experience with Power BI;
  • You have a strong analytical mindset;
  • You work in an organized manner and you are pro-active;
  • You work very precisely, and you have an eye for detail, your reporting skills are phenomenal;
  • You are very pragmatic and hands-on;
  • You are a team player and solid in stakeholder management;
  • You have good communication skills and you find it easy to maintain contacts with different stakeholders;
  • You have a critical mind and are creative in looking for improvements;
  • You are eager to learn, and you can easily respond to change;
  • You are trilingual (Dutch/English/French).
